From the street, Starlite is hard to miss. The entire exterior is wrapped in Tesselle Terrace Breeze Blocks, giving the building texture, depth, and a sense of what is waiting inside. As part of a remodel led by Bells + Whistles Design, the breeze blocks became a natural fit for a space known for atmosphere and personality.
Since opening in 2007, Starlite has been a favorite for people who appreciate a great cocktail, good food, and a setting that feels a little removed from the everyday. Tucked near the corner of India Street and Sassafras in Middletown/Mission Hills, it is the kind of place people recommend with a smile and a “you’ll love this spot.”

The breeze block facade adds to that feeling. During the day, the patterned concrete reads as graphic and sculptural. At night, light filters through the openings, offering a glimpse of the intimate, retro-inspired interior beyond. It creates privacy without feeling closed off and gives the building a strong presence without trying too hard.
Inside, Starlite delivers exactly what the exterior promises. A relaxed, welcoming atmosphere, thoughtful cocktails, elevated comfort food, and a space that encourages you to settle in and stay awhile. The breeze blocks help set the mood before you even walk through the door.
Projects like this are a good reminder that materials do not need to shout to make an impact. Used well, they simply support the experience. And at Starlite, that experience is already something special.
