At the Willow Home in Phoenix, breeze blocks are not treated as a single decorative feature. They become part of the architecture. Throughout the home, Ellipse and Lozenge Breeze Blocks designed by Shag for Tesselle are arranged in rotated checkerboard layouts that create a strong graphic rhythm while maintaining the openness that makes breeze blocks so appealing.
The pattern begins at the front entrance and continues through the main living spaces, behind the bar, and out toward the pool area. Used both indoors and outdoors, the blocks create a visual connection between different parts of the home and help blur the boundary between interior and exterior spaces.
Because the Ellipse and Lozenge designs can be rotated and combined in different ways, the installation feels dynamic without becoming repetitive. The changing orientation of the blocks creates larger geometric compositions across the walls, while the openings allow light and air to pass through.
That combination of pattern, function and architectural presence makes the breeze blocks especially well suited to the Willow Home’s modern desert setting.
