Leticia used Tesselle’s Terrace Breeze Blocks to transform an otherwise utilitarian area of her side yard into a more defined architectural space.
In Palm Desert, outdoor spaces often have to do more than one job. They need to feel beautiful, intentional, and comfortable while also accommodating the practical necessities that come with a home.
The wall creates a strong visual boundary within the yard while helping screen utility equipment from view. Instead of simply hiding something functional, Leticia turned the solution into a design feature.
Terrace Breeze Blocks are especially well suited to this kind of application. Their repeating square geometry feels right at home in Palm Desert’s mid-century modern landscape, while the open pattern keeps the wall from feeling heavy or closed off. Light and air can still move through the structure, making it a natural fit for the desert climate.
Surrounded by drought-tolerant landscaping, gravel, agaves and cacti, the soft gray concrete becomes part of the architecture rather than an afterthought.
It is a great example of how a relatively small wall can completely change the way a side yard feels. The space gains definition, the utility area becomes less visually prominent, and the breeze blocks introduce pattern and texture without overwhelming the landscape.
For side yards, pool equipment areas, HVAC screening, garden divisions and other spaces where privacy is needed without building a solid wall, breeze blocks can offer a much more architectural solution.
