This private residence in the hills of Paradise Valley showcases how Breeze Blocks can define space without closing it off. Set against a sweeping view of the valley below, a custom ramada becomes the heart of the outdoor living area, wrapped in Coterie Coal Breeze Blocks that provide structure, privacy, and visual rhythm while still allowing air and light to move freely.
The deep charcoal tone of Coterie Coal grounds the design and contrasts beautifully with the warm wood ceiling of the ramada and the clean-lined outdoor kitchen. The breeze block walls act as architectural screens, framing views outward while creating an intimate enclosure around seating, cooking, and gathering areas.
Designed by Jan and Steve Varner, the project balances modern lines with livability. DRRL Construction in collaboration with Elite Outdoors executed the build with precision, integrating the breeze block masonry seamlessly into the overall structure and surrounding landscape.
As the sun sets, the perforated pattern of the blocks casts subtle shadows, reinforcing the idea that breeze blocks are not just functional elements but architectural features that shape how a space feels throughout the day.
