When we first encountered and fell in love with cement tiles, we saw them as the perfect medium for bringing contemporary design ideas to life. Since launching Tesselle in 2012, that love has only grown. Along the way, we have also come to deeply appreciate the many traditional cement tile patterns that trace their roots back to France and Spain in the 1800s. These classics continue to feel just as relevant today.
This mudroom, designed by customer Andrea, is a beautiful example. She chose Lyssa Alsace, one of the classic patterns in the Tesselle collection, and used it to transform an everyday space into something joyful and welcoming.
The room itself is light, clean, and simple. White walls, natural wood furniture, and abundant daylight create a calm backdrop that lets the tile do the talking. The Lyssa Alsace pattern brings in a lively mix of blues, warm ochre, soft white, and subtle red accents. The repeating motif adds rhythm and movement across the floor, making the space feel energized without being overwhelming.
In a mudroom, durability matters, and cement tile delivers. Lyssa Alsace is not only visually engaging, it is made to stand up to daily use. Boots, bags, hats, and everyday traffic are no problem, and the tile only gets better with time.
Projects like Andrea’s remind us why we love cement tiles so much. Whether you are drawn to one of our modern designs, one of the historic classics, or ready to work with us on a bespoke tile created specifically for your project, our enthusiasm for cement tile is boundless. We are always here to help you find the right pattern, color, and scale to bring your space to life.
