Nestled in the wooded hills surrounding downtown San Diego, Jesseβs one-of-a-kind 1970s home has been refreshed with a new front courtyard wall featuring Glamour Dimensional Breeze Blocks by Tesselle.
The home already had a strong architectural character, with bold angles, natural surroundings, and a warm Southern California setting. Jesse chose Glamour because the dimensional pattern of the blocks complemented the angles of the home, then created a custom layout that makes the installation feel even more personal.

One of the most interesting details is the way Jesse rotated the Glamour blocks 180 degrees in the upper right-hand corner of each section. This subtle shift adds movement and visual rhythm to the wall, giving the screen a custom look while still using a single breeze block design.
The new wall defines the front courtyard while keeping the space open and connected to the outdoors. The breeze blocks provide shade and privacy, while still allowing light and air to move through. The result is a screen that feels open, sculptural, and well suited to Southern California living.
The wall was constructed by Carl Jablonski of Sawtooth Custom Construction, adding a crisp architectural layer to the homeβs warm, wooded setting.

Together with the bold orange front door, the breeze block wall creates a welcoming focal point at the entryway of this contemporary mid-century home. It is a beautiful example of how breeze blocks can add pattern, privacy, ventilation, and personality to a residence.
