What begins as a basic cinderblock wall can become a striking architectural element with thoughtful detailing and the right materials.
In Ormond Beach, Florida, Jason Formicola of Bayside Construction transformed a long perimeter wall into a modern privacy feature using Crossroads Breeze Blocks by Tesselle. The project combines clean geometry, airflow, privacy, and a highly refined finish that complements the home's contemporary outdoor living space.
The process began with a traditional cinderblock wall. Recessed openings were carefully planned into the structure, creating framed sections for the decorative breeze blocks. Once the breeze blocks were installed, a layer of smooth stucco was applied to the entire wall and painted to closely match the tailored texture of the Crossroads Breeze Blocks themselves.
This approach visually unifies the wall into a single architectural composition rather than a combination of separate materials. The recessed detailing adds depth and dimension, while the repeating breeze block pattern introduces rhythm, ventilation, and filtered light.
The completed wall pairs beautifully with the minimalist pool deck, tropical landscaping, and modern outdoor furnishings, creating privacy without making the space feel enclosed.
